Function
To perform instruction and other related duties in the Colleges instructional program.
Organizational Relationships
This position reports to the course lead instructor, who reports to the Dean of Workforce Engagement and Industrial Careers, who reports to the Vice President of Instructional Services, who reports to the President of the College.
Qualifications for Position
Required:
- Qualifications for the area of teaching Associate's Degree in Industrial Technology, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Manufacturing or related career.
- Commitment to community college mission and philosophy.
- Excellent communication, organization, and presentation skills.
- Willingness and ability to teach students in the classroom.
- Work with entire College community in an effective and positive manner.
Preferred:
- Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Technology, Industrial Engineering or related discipline.
- Experience in industrial electronics, fluid power, machining, industrial automation, and/or machining.
- Ability to teach Electrical Safety and NFPA 70 National Electrical Code
Essential Functions
- Perform instructional duties as assigned for appropriate subject area.
- Prepare or update syllabi as needed for all courses in which the faculty member has instructional responsibilities.
- Participate in selection of textbooks and equipment, which the instructor deems necessary in instructional assignments.
- Attend and participate in department meetings, program review meetings, and other College activities as requested.
- Perform assessment of student learning and participate in College-wide assessment program.
- Report absences from assigned responsibilities promptly to the Dean.
- Maintain attendance and grade records and provide these records for review as necessary.
- Participate in professional development activities both on campus and off-campus as requested.
- Keep abreast of current trends, technologies and information in subject area.
- Promote an educational environment that recognizes and values diversity, equity, and inclusion as integral components of academic excellence.
Other Functions
Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Controls
Employee is required to work independently with a minimum amount of supervision. Consultation as necessary is available with the Course Lead Instructor.
Guidelines
Adjunct faculty member is expected to follow all Kaskaskia College policies and procedures and local, state and federal laws and regulations. Position is also expected to adhere to and promote College's core values of compassion, honesty, respect, fairness, and responsibility.
Personal Relationships
Employee will have daily contact with students and other College employees and will have frequent contact with community.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Duties will be performed in a classroom and lab setting as well as a business and industry environment. Travel within the College district, as well as occasional overnight travel is required as necessary.
